As well as fashion, it was also an important resource of clothing to both men and women in the 1930’s. These types of clothing were type different to today’s specific clothing. According to (vintagedancer.com 1) the men would often wear high waisted sailor pants and pajamas. But when it came to fashion's history, women’s type of wardrobe changed and were replaced with more modest and better fitting style that would usually go all the way up to their waist with hips being able to fit. Jewelry was also a big part of the women’s style which were mostly plain pearls and artistic designs or any type of accessory they were able to make (vintagedancer.com 3). Although when it came to competitions and games, in order to dress sporty it was mandatory for you to be fit and healthy enough to dress up. Occurring to (vintagedancer.com 5) it includes how in special occasions, men wore suits with suit pants that would often go up to their waist. Lastly, it wasn’t much for the women but wore a lot of gowns and dresses which was important to their style in everyday life but for men, they also wore trouser waistbands that would often be applied to their sweater vests that were very unique (vintagedancer.com 5).
Furthermore, women's fashion was actually a very boyish style before it was changed into a more modest womanish look. Before, women and men would go out and buy the same copies of the designs in each clothing. But it wasn't until The Great Depression came along and hit everybody. The Great Depression was a very badly disaster that destroyed everything such as businesses. After the horrible disaster, everyone gathered together and the businesses decided to start charging for the designs of the clothing out there. But as the years went by, The Great Depression still hasn't been forgotten but the men's and women's fashion were actually made more differently and a bit more stylish. The sense of fashion changed from having padded shoulders and short a line skirts to the clothing like todays. In conclusion, fashion played an important role back in the 1930's. Every person of any age was able to dress the way they wanted and pick out their style. But all women of any color weren't able to have the proper rights they needed until they fought for it. Women remained wearing gowns for the most part that would all the way up to their hips or waists and certain jewelry. For the men, they would wear suits and suit pants and comfortable clothing. As clothing and fashion still remains here today, there were a few changes to men's and women's styles. The ladies overall mostly dressed modestly and formed style and the men dressed the same and more organized. Overall, throughout everything that the people faced with such events like The Great Depression, they still remained strong. |
