African Americans protesting for equal rightsOnly for African AmericansAfrican american had to drink from different water fountains |
To start, in the 1930s racism was really common to see. People that were mostly affected by racism were African Americans. According to the article, Racism In The 1930 ́s it states that, ̈ Therefore the 1930´s racial discrimination made it a huge struggle for African Americans in their daily life.´´ An example of Racism in the 1930s was when in 1931 nine African American men were charged with the raping of two white women in Alabama. Alabama was the state that had the most racism in the 1930s. There were many other cases like these people being charged of raping or killing someone but in the end, none of that is true. Another act of racism was when African Americans went to church, their church was old and they didn’t have any music books. But on the other hand, the white people had a nice church and they were clean and had many things that the African Americans didn’t have. When white people had a colored person as their helper in their household some would treat them really badly. In addition, when African American kids would go to school they would go to a different school than the whites. Another fact was when people would go out to places where there would be a sign saying, ̈ White people only ̈ or ̈ Colored people are not allowed ̈. Mostly everything would be separated so white wouldn’t be in contact with colored people. Also when a African american would be on a bus and a white person would get in they would have to give up their seats up for them.
Another act of racism was the KKK which affected African Americans. The kkk thought that the white people ruled and not the colored people. The KKK would come at night and kill Color people. They would be normal white people like Polices or people that work for the government it didn't matter. But they didn't really know who were behind the masks. When the great depression started, racism became more and more common. Africans Americans were considered the 2nd class citizens because white people thought they were useless and they weren’t important. And for the colored people, they were paid less than the whites and they had to work much harder. African Americans believe that racism couldn’t end without capitalism. Color people had no say of anything about the government or anything. White people would Refer to black people as Negroes. When colored people would go out it would be a nightmare for them Why people would just give them looks. African-American would protest for equal rights. The Wanted white people and colored people to be equaled. Sometimes policemen's would take African Americans to the police station for nothing and then they would be sent to jail. They also would have no say on anything due to their Situation. They wanted to change the way they were treated but they couldn’t because they didn’t have any rights. In conclusion the 1930 was a hard time for African American but they manage to get through it. By Entertainment their self and to forget about the negatively things. |
